A Walk In The Deep Dark Woods

One of Talitha's favorite things to do is walk in the woods by our house. Her favorite video right now is The Gruffalo. It's a beautifully animated story about a mouse that takes a walk in the deep dark woods. While we were walking she kept asking me to tell her the story over and over again. Here are some pictures from our walk.

Sorry No Videos

I haven't been able to take video for a while now and I'm just dying to!  Talitha is saying and doing some hilarious stuff and I am missing out on getting videos since our video camera went Ka-Put a few months back.  We are hoping to get a new one soon!  Until then I'll just have to keep up with pictures.

Feeling Ducky!

Talitha put on her ducky bath towel over her jammies the other night. She was Super Ducky T with her "duck cape". We ran all around the house chasing each other and playing hide and squeak! We call it hide and squeak because we run the circle around our kitchen and living room areas and hide in a doorway or behind the rocking chair and then just as the seeker comes around the corner we jump out and make the other person squeal with surprise!! It's a great game!!

Doughnut Surprise!

Talitha has adopted her Daddy's LOVE of doughnuts as well as many other sweet treats. Not that this is such a terrible thing. I know ALL children LOVE sweets. But now my veggi-lovin little girl has started to turn her nose up at veggies in hopes for more treats. So in hopes to get some kind of vegetables into her daily diet I have started cooking from Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook. So far so good. These are the doughnuts with pumpkin and sweet potato. They were a hit! Last night I made a healthy version of fried chicken with flax meal and queona cereal for bread crumbs and she gobbled it up. Instead of frying the chicken I put only a little oil in the bottom of the pan and pan-seared the chicken. Today it will be muffins made with beats, granola bars with blueberries and spinach, and then noodles with yellow squash puree in the sauce. It takes me about an extra hour in prep time one day a week to steam and roast the vegetables and make them into purees. But hey if it gets her to start eating her veggies I'm ok with that. Now that she is no longer getting immunities from mommie's milk I feel a greater responsibility to help her make healthy choices.

Then Daddy brings home Top Pot doughnuts this morning. They were good, but it's a good thing I'm the one feeding her most days. ;)

A Rumbly In My Tumbly

I felt the baby move for the first time yesterday! I wasn't sure about it then but I thought maybe.
Then today when I woke up from my nap I was just laying next to Talitha resting while she slept. I started feeling something. Kind of like popcorn on my side just in one spot. I lay there really still and waited and it happened again, then again, and again. So I pushed on my tummy in that spot and the feeling stopped. Then a minute later I felt it again. A pushing sensation that was not gas. Every time I would push on my tummy in that spot it would stop for a minute then it would start again. This went on for about 5 minutes then I think the wee one got tired of being poked and moved into a different position. It's an amazing feeling that first time you KNOW you are feeling the baby move. It makes me feel even closer to the little one I haven't met yet, and I'm more excited than ever for their arrival!

I Love My New Camera

Taking pictures of you taking pictures of me!

Anything To Get The Shot

Talitha loves my camera and wants to use it every time she sees it. I found this kids camera at Costco and it works!! It's an actual digital camera. You can down load your pictures and edit them on the camera. It's super durable and Talitha just loves taking pictures of everything!

Back In The Kitchen Again!

I was inspired the last time I went to visit my friend Tiffany and her two adorable boys. She made us all a pancake breakfast and it was delicious. I can't remember what kind of pancakes exactly but they were healthy and I remember she added ground flax to the batter. Lately while feeling so ill all I have been craving is take out. It's been really difficult for me to do much cooking at all. This pregnancy is so different than the first with Talitha. With Talitha I was eating very healthy. Lots of vegetables and fruits, fish and healthy proteins. This time all I've been able stomach is breads, bananas, home made bean burritos, and take out, take out, take out.

Now that I'm just starting to feel better and get my energy back. I'm no longer camped out on our couch and I really want to get back to cooking all our food myself. So today drawing from the inspiration I felt that day at Tiffany's house I made pancakes for me and Talitha (and #2). I have made whole wheat oatmeal pancakes before but this time I also added flax and I added some molasses to the batter with some cinnamon. I was a little worried at first but they turned out FANTASTIC! With the added protein in the oatmeal and the iron and minerals in the molasses and the omegas in the flax these are power packed SUPER FLAP JACKS!! One of Noe's favorites is pancakes so I made extra for him to have when he gets home from work today. I think he will gobble them up just like me and Talitha did.

I am very excited to be back in the kitchen again!

Getting Bigger

I am now 14 weeks and the baby is the size of a lemon. Although it feels more like the size of a football to me. But the good news is I'm starting to feel better now.
